Festival Off Avignon - 58th edition

The Off festival – which is part of the main Avignon Festival, known as the In – takes place in July every year. Over 4,600 artists from across France and the world descend on Avignon to perform more than 1,500 shows, transforming the town into one huge theatre of artistic expression, where all the performing arts are represented in hundreds of different venues.
The association “Avignon Festival & Compagnies manages the Avignon Off festival. There is every kind of performing arts in the Off: theatre, readings, café-theatre, circus, dance, music, street theatre … classical texts, modern texts, contemporary – for every kind of audience, every age.
Avignon Off kicks off with a major parade through the streets of the city, and a dance closes the festivities – gathering audiences and performers in a big dance in the Urbain V gardens. The programme can be seen on line around mid-June, and the big paper catalogue is available in early July.
