Event at Orange :
Picture soldiers in helmets and armour brandishing lances, rich Romans in embroidered togas, and artisans striking coins from hot metal! The Roman Theatre of Orange acts as a life-sized backdrop to this historical reenactment of the era when Romans founded the colony of Orange in 35 BC.
Audiences of all ages are transported back to the times of Emperor Augustus, with military maneuvres and parades, gladiator games, and dance performances.
A legionnaires’ camp is set up inside the Roman Theatre where you can discover how the soldiers lived.
Fun and educational workshops give you a feel for what everyday life was like in this distant era.
This fascinating period of history left a profound mark on the town of Orange and Provence as a whole.
