The tourist service at Vaison-la-Romaine :
This circuit sets out from Rasteau and takes you over the vine-covered hillsides, giving you a great leg warm-up and introduction to gravel-riding as you taking in the host of pretty views! The programme features Cairanne, le Col du Débat and the Ventrabren massif, and their paths through the undergrowth.
Set out to explore the Ventabren massif – the hill between Aygues and Ouvèze, dotted with the villages of Rasteau, Cairanne, Buisson and Villedieu.
At the heart of the vine-covered hillsides, this first ride keeps you moving forward easily until the village of Cairanne. The view of the vineyard is wonderful from the top of the village. You then set out single-file on a great climb towards the Col du Débat to continue on a forest path. At the top of the massif, the atmosphere is as good as that of the Cèdres Forest. The circuit alternates between a path through the undergrowth, and single-file offering clear views of the Provencal Drome and its lavender on one side, and Mont Ventoux and its Dentelles on the other.
The return journey is via the Combe des amoureux, a demanding descent, but one which gives you wonderful viewpoints.
In the end you have a circuit full of beautiful views, that gives your legs a great warm up with introduction to gravel riding!
